TROPICS: Francine Still Brewing

It is forecast to top out with winds of 100 miles per hour right before landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday.

Tropical Storm Francine is still brewing in the Gulf of Mexico, and it's headed for Louisiana.

As of 11 p.m. ET, it has top winds of 65 miles per hour -- just below hurricane force. Strengthening did level off during the afternoon and evening, but the National Hurricane Center says, "The minimum pressure reported from the [hurricane hunter] aircraft has dropped to 992 millibars, which could indicate that strengthening will resume soon."

Forecasters predict that the storm will top out with winds of 100 miles per hour as it approaches the Louisiana coast on Wednesday.
