Uvalde School Police Chief Pete Arredondo has been fired. The city's school board voted unanimously Wednesday to terminate him effective immediately. It comes on the three-month anniversary of the school shooting in which 19 students and two teachers were killed.
Due to concerns about his safety, Arredondo did not attend the hearing, according to his lawyer, George Hyde, who released a 17-page statement just prior to the community meeting.
Hyde called the hearing and decision an "illegal and unconstitutional public lynching." He said that the district failed to file the correct legal procedures and that his requests to access district investigations or complaints "have been ignored by the district." (ABC News)
