- Sounds like this is something the sneaker brand was already planning to do and this is just a case of perfect timing.
- Too bad the bots are going to wind up snatching all of these up, just like every other limited sneaker or streetwear release.
- Nike needs to put some respect on his name. It's Lil -- not Little.
- If the name MSCHF sounds familiar, it’s because earlier this year the brand put out a pair of Air Max 97s called the Jesus Shoes.
- Lil Nas is a marketing genius.
The limited-edition release features a pair of Nike Air Max ’97’s, customized with some devilish details. There are only 666 pairs being sold of the custom kicks that include “one drop of human blood” mixed with the ink and Luke 10:18 printed on the side, pentagrams and upside down crosses, with a red-and-black color way. Despite them costing $1,018, all pairs are expected to sell out when they go on sale later this morning through streetwear brand MSCHF.
Nike made it clear they have nothing to do satanic sneakers. "We do not have a relationship with Little Nas X or MSCH… Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them."
Clemson University quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who's considered a possible first pick for the upcoming NFL draft, tweeted that the “Line has to be drawn somewhere. Shaking my head.”
NBA player Nick Youngtweeted, “My kids will never play 'Old Town Road' again… I’m still debating about wearing Nike after this.”
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem tweeted, “Our kids are being told that this kind of product is, not only okay, it's 'exclusive.' But do you know what's more exclusive? Their God-given eternal soul.”
Lil Nas reacted to the controversy by tweeting, “You’re a whole damn governor and you on here tweeting about some damn shoes. Do your job!” He also trolled people by linking to a fake apology video that was actually just his latest music video.
