- Good riddance. Handshakes are a disgusting old tradition.
- I'll miss firmly squeezing somebody's hand and looking them in the eye.
- We can adopt bowing, like that they do in Japan and other countries.
If Dr. Fauci [pr: Fow-chi] has his way, handshakes will be a thing of the past. The director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases said that Americans should give up the tradition of shaking hands for good to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases.
Discussing the eventual return to normal life with theThe Journalpodcast, Fauci said, "When you gradually come back, you don't jump into it with both feet. You say what are things you could still do and still approach normal. One of them is absolutely compulsive hand washing. The other is you don't ever shake anybody's hands."
The good doctor also said that people may want to wear some sort of "cloth face protection" if they can't maintain six feet of social distancing, as life begins to go back to normal. (Newsweek)
