KANYE WEST, PRESIDENT TRUMP: Meeting of the Minds

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • Could you imagine if Colin Kaepernick actually bothered to show up? What an embarrassment.
  • To steal a phrase from Trump, this was just “Sad!”
  • The menu included caprese salad with roasted chicken with potatoes and asparagus.
  • Trump is just using Kanye. Hopefully Kanye is using Trump to get something, too.
  • Who knows what might be said behind closed doors. He still has an opportunity to talk about prison reform and other important issues.
  • You’re telling me that the best use of the President’s time is listening to a madman ramble for a couple hours?
  • I'm surprised both of their egos can even fit in the same room.
  • Kanye clearly needs help. Why are we all just watching and exploiting this instead of pushing him and supporting him?

Those expecting Kanye to be Kanye weren’t disappointed. The rapper and designer went on long-winded, uninterrupted rants, both when speaking to the President and answering questions from the press. As Yeezy himself said, he doesn’t do simple soundbites, since he has lots of notes like a fine wine.

Kanye spoke informally and used language rarely heard in the Oval Office, calling himself a “crazy mother[effer].” Kanye and POTUS were both respectful of one another, taking turns stroking each other's egos. At one point, Trump said that Kanye likes him and Yeezy corrected the statement, saying he “loves” him, and walked around the table to dap him up and pose for a quick picture.

Yeezy brought up some issues important to him, like prison reform. He also appeared to advocate for the release of former Gangster Disciples leader Larry Hoover, who he called a “block leader” and a “living statue.” There was also some talk about abolishing the 13th Amendment because it’s an unlucky number, and a vision for Trump Factories and Yeezy Ideation Centers in Chicago.

In a rare move, The Donald mostly just listened and deferred to Yeezy, allowing him to field the press pool’s questions. As for whether Kanye’s words have the potential to effect change, that’s unclear -- Trump declared himself “open-minded.”

When asked about his own plans to run for President, Kanye left the possibility open but said he wouldn’t want to compete with Trump. And when one reporter asked Kanye about the time he said George Bush doesn’t care about black people and whether ‘Ye thinks Trump is a racist, Kanye said that racism can’t control him.

After their chat, Kanye, The Donald, NFL legend Jim Brown, Ivanka and Jared Kushner attended a private luncheon. (TMZ)
