With only a year under his belt of learning how to play Chess, 8-year-old Tanitoluwa Adewumi–a Nigerian refugee who goes by Tani now living in New York with his family is who everyone is talking about. His family who are said to be Christians were facing persecution came to America two years ago. With the help of Tani's coach- who started a gofundme page for the 8-year-old and his family after finding out they were homeless living in shelters- they were able to raise money. Tani's coach says that he is doing really well for a kid who just learned how to play. People have donated more than $100,000 to the godundmepage, and Tani is set to go to Nationals in May.
