Last night if you missed it, the Oscars aired and many would agree that Black History was made. From epic wins to epic gowns and memorable speeches, social media was ready to sound off. congratulations are in order to the ever so lovely Cicely L. Tyson for being the first recipient of the Honorary Academy Award- at the seasoned age of 94-years-old, There is no argument that Tyson has had an amazing acting career from 1956 to 2018 she has wow'd viewers with her grace, and emotional characters, it comes to no surprise that she was chosen for the Honorary Academy Award.
A few other big wins for the entertainment history books outside of the acting categories would include the extremely talented Costume Designer Ruth E. Carter, won for her work on Black Panther, Carter was also nominated in the past for her costume design work on “Amistad” (1997)and“Malcolm X” (1992). (“Malcolm X” was directed by Spike Lee,) another big win outside of acting went to the talked about lady in red.... Hannah Beachler who was the first black woman to receive an Oscar for "Production Design" for BLACK PANTHER.
