Welp, it's a official John Hopkins University School of Medicine, doctors have officially successfully completed the first penis and scrotum transplant. Doctors say that a wounded solider who was drastically hurt while serving, asked to remain anonymous agreed to have the surgery done. A procedure that took nearly 14-hours (according to marketwatch.com) involved nine plastic surgeons and two urological surgeons.
“We are hopeful that this transplant will help restore near-normal urinary and sexual functions for this young man,” W.P. Andrew Lee, a professor and director of plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, said in a statement.
Doctors also mentioned that the patient had a rare blood type, which took longer than expected, however as mentioned the surgery was successful, the war veteran states that he "feels normal" again, doctors believe that the patient will be released sometime this week.
