Last December, Diddy's lawsuit added new claims about Jay-Z. A woman said the two men sexually assaulted her at a 2000 party. She was 13 then. Both denied it. Jay-Z sued her lawyer, Tony Buzbee. He claimed extortion and harm to his reputation. Earlier this month, the woman dropped her suit. The case was dismissed, and she can't file again. "Today is a win. These fake claims are gone," Jay-Z stated after the dismissal. "The story was a joke, given the serious claims. I wouldn't want this on anyone. My family and I went through a lot."
Now, The Neighborhood Talk reports that Jay-Z's suit against Buzbee may go to trial. A judge thinks his claim of harm to reputation has merit. But the extortion claim might be dropped. Judge Mark H. Epstein focused on Buzbee's social media posts. He called Jay-Z's accuser a "sexual assault survivor". He also liked a post suggesting Jay-Z was the unnamed defendant. Epstein said these actions could be seen as damaging to Jay-Z's reputation.
Their next hearing is March 26. The judge will likely decide on the extortion claim then. If dropped, the case will focus on harm to reputation. Buzbee is also suing Roc Nation and others. He claims they talked his ex-clients into suing him.
