Young Thug Trial: Only Three Defendants Remain

The YSL RICO trial is continuing, and recently, one of Young Thug's co-defendants, Quamarvious Nichols, also known as Qua, decided to accept a plea deal. After several days of discussions with Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis, he pleaded guilty to a RICO charge. In exchange, other serious charges against him, including murder, were dropped. Just a couple of days after this, two more co-defendants of Young Thug, Rodalius Ryan and Marquavius Huey, also took plea deals. Ryan, who is already serving a life sentence for murder, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act and received a ten-year sentence that will count as time served. Huey has been in jail for two years and pleaded guilty to several charges, including conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act, aggravated assault, and robbery. He was sentenced to 25 years, with nine years in prison, and the rest on probation, with five years suspended. This leaves only three defendants, Young Thug, Yak Gotti, and Shannon Stillwell. Recent events have led to discussions about the possibility of a mistrial. The defense requested one after a witness accidentally mentioned #FreeQua while on the stand, which the jury should not have heard. Judge Whitaker did not approve a mistrial that would prevent a retrial for Young Thug and the others but showed openness to a mistrial that would allow for it.
