Despite the ongoing debate about Jay-Z and the Super Bowl, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed that Jay-Z will keep producing the Halftime Show. According to Bloomberg, Goodell talked about this partnership at the NFL annual owners meeting in Atlanta. He called his relationship with Jay-Z, Roc Nation, and CEO Desiree Perez "mutually positive," stating that everyone involved is happy. He mentioned, "I’m not sure either one of us really spend much time talking about contracts." Both Jay-Z and Desiree Perez are content, as is Goodell. The new contract details are not yet public, but their previous five-year deal from 2019 was worth about $25 million. This partnership led to a surge in viewership, featuring notable performances from artists like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige in 2022, followed by Rihanna in 2023. Rihanna's Halftime Show reached over 118.7 million viewers, making it one of the most-watched ever.
Next year, Kendrick Lamar is set to perform, which has caused some backlash since many think Lil Wayne should have been chosen for the show in his hometown. Lil Wayne expressed that it "hurt a lot" not to be selected. Keep it locked to 103.5 The Beat for more!
