A$AP Rocky Disses Drake On New Single "HIGHJACK"

A$AP Rocky still has unresolved issues with Drake. While Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, and other rappers who previously targeted the 6 God seem to have moved on, Rocky is eager for another confrontation. DJ Kast One recently stated on Hot 97 that Rocky's upcoming album, Don't Be Dumb, contains diss tracks aimed at Drake. Although fans expected to wait until August 30 to hear these lyrics, Rocky may have hinted at them in his new single, "HIGHJACK," according to some listeners. Analyzing lyrics can often lead to finding hidden messages, especially if one is searching for a diss. Rocky's lyrics do contain references that seem applicable to Drake. In "HIGHJACK," he calls out someone with similarities to the 6 God, rapping, "These n**gas want my wife bad, the people want my next track. The coppers want my black a*s, f*cked up, but it's like that." The ongoing conversation around Rihanna's relationships with both Rocky and Drake adds more context, with Drake even mentioning her nickname "Fring" during his diss on "Family Matters." The strongest indication of Rocky's possible diss toward Drake lies in the song's interpolation. "HIGHJACK" features a laid-back, cloud rap beat, yet Rocky frequently concludes his lines with "like that." This phrase recalls Future and Metro Boomin's "Like That," which initiated the rivalry. Rocky raps, "Pull up to the trenches, all my jewelry, yeah, I'm like that. I just put my finger in the **** 'cause she like that. Don't compare that p**sy boy to me (I don't like that)," suggesting that the "boy" he insults could very well be Drake, often referred to as "The Boy." Rocky isn’t the only artist seemingly eager to confront Drake. Just a day before Rocky's single release, JPEGMAFIA launched his album I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU, which included two harsh diss tracks aimed at Drake. One track hinted at the Toronto rapper's troubling allegations involving underage girls, while another featured the phrase "No Drizzy." In comparison, Rocky's diss is relatively mild, leaving fans to wonder if the real excitement will emerge upon the album's release.
