Fans Hear Drake Influence On Childish Gambino’s New Album

Today, Childish Gambino released his new album, Bando Stone and The New World. This highly anticipated project marks the end of Donald Glover's career as a rapper and showcases his range as an artist. As fans engage on social media, many are noting resemblances to the music of other artists. For instance, on tracks like "Talk My Sh*t" and "Yoshinoya," listeners claim to detect Drake's influence. Comments on X accuse Childish Gambino of mimicking the Toronto artist's style. One user states, "It sounds too much like Drake," while another asserts, "This is clearly influenced by Drake." However, not everyone agrees that Gambino is copying. Some commenters argue that these claims are exaggerated, suggesting that Drake's own flow lacks originality. "Drake's music isn’t inspired by himself," one user points out, while another claims, "Drake doesn’t have a style for anyone to imitate." Others speculate that Gambino might be intentionally throwing shade. This remains a topic of discussion, and it wouldn't be the first instance of subtle jabs on the album that have stirred conversation. In Gambino's track "Survival," featuring Chloe Bailey, he appears to take a shot at Joe Budden. He raps, "They in the minor leagues, but I’m pro-Black / I bet he hate his mom, how you know that? / You got a podcast ’cause you can’t rap / You on some Fresh and Fit s**t, talking body counts / I count a body every time I’m on tracks." Earlier, Budden suggested that Drake would defeat Gambino in a rap battle, which could shed light on the tension.
