Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, was arrested by Marshals in 2020 for failing to register as a sex offender in California.
Petty’s case was resolved, when a judge gave him with three years’ probation and a year of home detention. Petty was also ordered to pay a $55,000 fine as part of his sentence.
Petty's confinement will be restricted to a pool, state-of-the-art music studio and luxurious backyard. Prosecutors wanted Petty hit with 15 months in prison, five years supervised release and the $55,000 in retribution, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office suggested his marriage to Minaj resulted in the lighter sentance. Petty kept up with his sex offender registry paperwork for nearly two decades but once he rekindled with Nicki, he “adopted an affluent lifestyle” and stopped checking in.
Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995 at the age of 16, and served over four years in prison for the offense, and must register as a sex offender wherever he goes.
