H.E.R. is celebrating her birthday today!
H.E.R. got her start using her own name Gabriella Wilson, but re-emerged in 2016 as H.E.R., with the debut EP H.E.R. Volume 1. She followed it with four EPs, and her first compilation album H.E.R. in 2017. She would be nominated for five Grammy Awards, winning Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Album.
Her second compilation album, I Used to Know Her, was nominated for five Grammys, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year for "Hard Place". Last year she was awarded the Grammy for Song of the Year for "I Can't Breathe" and the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Fight for You" from Judas and the Black Messiah. She also won the Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance for the song.
Her debut album Back of My Mind was released last year and debuted at number six on the Billboard 200. It became her highest charting album and first top 10 entry on the chart.
The album received two nominations for Album of the Year and Best R&B Album, as "Damage" also received nominations for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.
