It's Teyana Taylor's birthday!
Breaking into the game at 15 years old, Teyana Taylor choreographed the music video for Beyoncé's hit single, "Ring the Alarm". Taylor signed a deal to Pharrell Williams' Star Trak Entertainment label, and released her debut single, "Google Me" from her debut mixtape, a Planet Called Harlem. "Google Me" reached at number 90 on the US Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
In 2012 her second release, the mixtape The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor, drew influences from R&B legends like Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige. The tape was preceded by the release of "Make Your Move" (feat. Wale) and "D.U.I." (feat. Jadakiss & Fabolous).
Taylor would sign a joint-venture deal with Kanye West's label GOOD Music and The Island Def Jam Music Group, and appear on the GOOD Music compilation album Cruel Summer, and provide vocals for "To the World", with Kanye West, and "Sin City", which features John Legend, Cyhi the Prynce, Malik Yusef and Travis Scott.
Her debut album, released through Def Jam and GOOD Music, and debuted at number 19 on the Billboard 200, selling 16,000 copies in its first week. In 2016, she released her single "Freak On", featuring Chris Brown, which sampled "Freak Like Me" by Adina Howard.
Her third album titled The Album would be released in 2020, with the 23-tracks, featuring guest appearances by Erykah Badu, Kehlani, Lauryn Hill, Future, Rick Ross, Quavo, and Missy Elliott. The album debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200, earning Taylor her first top 10 album.
Happy Birthday Teyana, you star is still on the rise!
