Keyontae Johnson has been released from the hospital!
"Today is a great day! Keyontae is being released from the hospital," his family said in a statement. "We continue to be amazed at the pace of his recovery and look forward to spending Christmas together as a family."
Doctors are still trying to determine what caused Johnson to suddenly collapse.
"Along with so many well wishes and prayers, we've understandably gotten questions about the cause and extent of Keyontae's illness. As much as everyone involved wants firm answers, the process to draw definitive conclusions continues, and we ask for patience as the medical professionals continue their work," his family added.
The University of Florida basketball star collapsed on the court in the middle of the game between the Gators and The Florida State Seminoles.
Keyontae successfully finished an alley-oop and celebrated the move from the sidelines, then after a timeout, the team broke huddle, and Keyontae collapsed.
Johnson was taken off the court by stretcher and was rushed by ambulance to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. After, Keyontae tested positive for COVID in the summer, it appears one of the side effects was myocarditis an inflammation of the heart muscle.
