Several worship centers across South Florida will begin providing the COVID vaccine to seniors.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the facilities include Hollywood at the Koinonia Worship Center as well as Fort Lauderdale at the New Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Other locations include Lynn Haven, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Tampa and St. Lucie.
“You see some of these big hospitals are starting to crank out a lot of vaccinations and we appreciate that,” DeSantis said.
The state’s Department of Emergency Management said Florida is expecting to receive an additional 250,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines within the week.
The state is now averaging about 40,000 shots per day.
"Demand for the vaccine is high, and we know that there is no time to waste when it comes to getting shots in arms," DeSantis said.
