Terry Perry has made history!
This past weekend everyone flocked to Atlanta to celebrate the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios, the first ever fully black-owned film studio lot.
The lot spread over 330 acres once served as a Confederate army base. The studios feature a dozen sound stages named after black Hollywood icons, and a replica of The White House.
Tons of stars came out to The A to congratulate Perry. Oprah Winfrey, Spike Lee, Cicely Tyson, Samuel L. Jackson, Halle Berry, Jay-Z and Beyonce among the A-list celebrities in attendance.
As many people who have been following Perry’s career know, his literal rags-to-riches story is quite the impressive feat.
