Missy Elliott is definitely owning 2019!
Most recently receiving her doctorate in music, becoming the first female hip-hop artist inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and confirming that she indeed has new music on the way. She sat down to chat with Marie Claire magazine.
Per Highsnobiety, The interview touches on Elliott’s childhood, working as a songwriter for Mary J. Blige, SWV, and Faith Evans, and eventually Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, and Beyoncé. When asked about her highly-anticipated upcoming seventh album, Missy told the magazine thatit’s time to make street dudes enjoy dancing again, like in the days of Soul Train. She told Marie Claire that when we listen to her next album she wants us to think, “There’s no one like Missy. No one.”
