The wave of Disney live action reboots is exciting and appreciated. For some these movies came out when they were children, and now parents can watch them with their kids for them to enjoy.
Once the rumor of a reboot for The Little Mermaid was announced, fans wondered who would be acting in these roles.
Now Variety reports Disney has a lead for the Rob Marshall-directed film. Halle Bailey of Chloe x Halle and Grown-ish is set to take the role of the curious mermaid, Ariel.
The Little Mermaid is currently scheduled to start shooting in early 2020, and promises to incorporate songs from the original alongside something new and fresh!
Check out Halle's tweet where she describes this role as a "dream come true."
Disney is putting in over time with the Lion King dropping in just a few weeks, and supposedly in 2020 will see the release of Mulan and the 101 Dalmatians film Cruella.
Rumors also continue that we can eventually see a reboot of The Sword in the Stone, Pinocchio, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Lilo & Stitch, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Congratulations to Halle, send her some love in our comments!
