Looks like the story of Prince is coming to the screen, and who better to mastermind the project that Ava DuVernay. She directed the film Selma, 13th, both of which received rave reviews. DuVernay will work with the team at Netflix to direct Prince's documentary.
According to the publication, Prince personally reached out to Ava before his passing, with interest in working with her. “Prince was a genius and a joy and a jolt to the senses,” Ava said about the singer. “He was like no other. He shattered every preconceived notion, smashed every boundary, shared everything in his heart through his music. The only way I know how to make this film is with love. And with great care. I’m honored to do so and grateful for the opportunity entrusted to me by the estate.”
