As more eerie details come to light in the midst of XXXTentacion's death, we just found out some more info. Apparently, weeks before his passing, the rapper had just signed a $10 million album deal with Empire.
Empire's founder, Ghazi Shami, would not comment on all of the ins and outs of the deal, but he did info that XXX completed “a significant amount of material” for said album, before his passing.
“Are you sure you want to sign me, even when my streams are down?” Shami recalled XXXTentacion asking him.
“I said, ‘I believe in you; I don’t believe in playlists,’” Shami said. “‘Playlists are nice. You are a musical phenomenon.’”
“I know the person,” he later added. “My job was to nurture him and let him be the best version of himself that he could be, not to villainize him.”
I'm sure X has a good amount of unreleased music at the moment, yet who knows when those will be released. The Times informed that the earliest it can drop is October, because of the deal he has with Universal Music Group.
