Nicki Minaj To Perform On SNL Season Finale, Weeks After Cardi B

Nicki Minaj is back on the scene with the new singles she dropped last week, "Barbie Tingz” and “Chun-Li,” off her upcoming and yet-to-be-named fourth studio album.

And it looks like she'll continue her latest run in the spotlight by closing out  the latest season of Saturday Night Live on May 19th, as the official musical guest, alongside host and vet Tina Fey, for the SNL season finale.

The 35-year-old Queens-native rapper has already appeared on Saturday Night Live four times, serving as the official musical guest in both 2011 and 2014.

It’s unclear whether Nicki will join the cast for a skit like she has in the past -- She acted as Beyoncé and Kim K in 2014 and appeared in the video for The Lonely Island’s “The Creep” in 2011.

Back to the music.

Both Nicki's new songs show her in warlike prime as a rapper, and both address unnamed foes (could it be Cardi!?).

Well, let's see: Nicki released those two tracks less than a week after Cardi B’s debut album Invasion Of Privacy came out, and I'm gunna say this was not an accident. Nicki knows what she’s doing.

Even if she and Cardi are actually cool with one another, Nicki has undoubtedly been building on the idea of some brewing, unspoken feud between her and Cardi.

Cardi just appeared on SNL two weekends ago, where she officially announced her pregnancy.

Cardi and Nicki Minaj are not feuding with one another — at least not openly, anyway. They don't say each other’s names on record and even praise one another in interviews. A few months ago, they appeared together on the Migos track “MotorSport.”

But is there another story behind the scene?

Is this a case of relentless competition in the female rap game?

Will Nicki use her SNL appearance to make a big debut just as Cardi did with her pregnancy?

POSSIBLY an album drop? There's no official release date, after all...

We'll have to wait and see. All I'm saying is I've got the popcorn ready.
