It's August...get ready as hurricane season kicks into high gear.

In fact, according to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Dexter formed Sunday. Dexter is the fourth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season and is spinning about 300 miles west-northwest of Bermuda.

The National Hurricane Center says Dexter is forecast to spin out into the Atlantic, without threatening the mainland United States.

But Dexter is one of three weather disturbances in the Atlantic that the hurricane center is watching.

TS Dexter has 45-mph maximum sustained winds moving N-NE at 12mph away from the US and is expected to lose tropical characteristics by the end of the week.

Another system watched by the NHC has 30% chance of development in western Atlantic over the next week

Forecasters say the Saharan dust coming off Africa is thwarting storm formation of another system that has been given a 50% chance of developing over the next 7 days.
