Tropical Storm Sean Forms In Atlantic; Gulf System Sends Rain To So Florida

Tropical Storm Sean formed in the eastern Atlantic Wednesday morning. It has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and is moving WNW at 13 mph. Philip Papin, senior hurricane specialist at the National Hurricane Center in Miami says Sean will likely be a short-lived storm.

Meanwhile, a system out in the Gulf of Mexico has merged with a frontal boundary in the northern Gulf and no longer has a chance of tropical formation. However, Papin says there will still be a chance of gale-force winds in the northern Gulf and potentially some heavy downpours throughout South Florida and Gulf-coast areas.
