Miami-Dade, FL - Cuban television actor was arrested in southwest Miami-Dade this week following an alleged heated argument with his wife involving her cellphone.
The dispute, which reportedly began when Moreno was given access to the phone, escalated after he allegedly refused to return it, prompting his wife, Bárbara Estévez, to call 911.
According to Moreno's arrest report, Estévez told police that Moreno had been scrolling through her phone without permission, leading to suspicions of infidelity.
When Estévez asked for it back, he allegedly took it from her by force.
Their daughter allegedly witnessed the altercation and offered Estévez her phone so she could call police.
Moreno later returned the phone before officers arrived.
Moreno, 44, was initially booked on a charge of strong-arm robbery, but the judge found no probable cause for that and instead ruled there was cause for a misdemeanor battery charge.
He was released on a $1,000 bond early Friday morning.
The court also adjusted a no-contact order to allow him to attend his son’s school play and have contact with Estévez.
In court, Estévez defended her husband, saying she never intended for the situation to escalate to an arrest and that he has never been violent.
Moreno, speaking to reporters after his release, denied claims that he had robbed or threatened anyone and stressed that their relationship, while going through divorce, still involves mutual care and shared parenting.
The state attorney’s office has not yet decided whether to formally file charges.
