Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially started serving his federal prison sentence after being convicted on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. He was sentenced to 50 months behind bars, plus a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release.
Diddy was transferred to Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix (FCI Fort Dix) in New Jersey early this morning (Thursday Oct. 30). His legal team requested this location because the facility offers the Bureau of Prisons’ intensive Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) and is close enough for family visits, which they say is critical for his rehabilitation.

In a letter submitted ahead of his incarceration, his attorneys stated the transfer to Fort Dix would allow Diddy “to address drug abuse issues and maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.”
Though the court approved the sentence, his team continues to pursue avenues for clemency and better placement, emphasizing his commitment to work on his personal issues and rebuild his legacy.
