Last of 10 Escaped Inmates Captured: Derrick Groves Back in Custody

After five months on the run, Derrick Groves; the final fugitive from the New Orleans jail escape earlier this year has been captured. Groves was serving a life sentence for two counts of second-degree murder when he broke out alongside nine others.

New Orleans authorities confirmed his capture today (Wednesday Oct. 8) and vowed he will face full accountability for both his original crimes and the escape.

District Attorney Jason Williams stated, “Justice delayed is not justice denied. Derrick Groves will answer for every day he spent running from it.”
