Superstar R&B artist Chris Brown is currently entangled in serious legal trouble overseas. The 35-year-old singer was arrested on May 16, hours after landing in Manchester via private jet for the U.K. leg of his highly anticipated Breezy Bowl XX Tour. His arrest stems from a 2023 alleged nightclub fight that has now escalated into formal charges.
According to the Meto Police, Brown is accused of grievous bodily harm with intent following an incident at Tape London nightclub, where he allegedly struck music producer Amadou “Abe” Diaw over the head with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila. The alleged assault left Diaw with serious head and facial injuries requiring hospitalization. Police say Brown fled the country the next day, sparking a lengthy investigation.
Brown was taken into custody upon re-entry into the U.K. and appeared before a judge where he was initially denied bond due to flight risk concerns. However, as of today May 21, he has been released after posting a $6.7 million bond.
His bail conditions consist of :
- Surrendering his passport except for approved tour travel
- Residing at a court-approved location while in the U.K.
- No contact with the alleged victim or co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu (aka HoodyBaby, a known associate of Brown's)
Despite the legal storm, Brown has not canceled his tour. His team confirming the Breezy Bowl XX shows will proceed as scheduled, beginning June 8 in Amsterdam, with a planned U.K. stop in London on June 14, just one day after his next court appearance on June 13 at Southwak Cown Court.
