Judge Pushes for Progress in YNW Melly Trial Sternly

The legal battle surrounding YNW Melly continues to unfold in court. Melly's case has continued to make headlines after his recent hearing. A judge has urged prosecutors to move forward with the case, expressing frustration over delays. Melly, who has been in custody for over 2,202 days, is facing two first-degree murder charges in connection with the 2018 killings of his two friends, Anthony Williams (YNW Sakchaser) and Christopher Thomas Jr. (YNW Juvy).

The judge made it clear that if any of the three state prosecutors assigned to the case are unable to attend, there are more than enough attorneys within the state’s office to step in, suggesting, "Maybe one of the 150 prosecutors upstairs can sit in." The urgency of the matter was highlighted by the lengthy time Melly has already spent in custody, with no resolution in sight.

Judge Martin Fein, also expressed how embarrassed he was of both sides to be making such ridiculous "depos' in a death penalty case.

YNW Melly’s next hearing is scheduled for April 1, and his trial is set for September 10, 2025. As the case moves forward, the pressure is mounting on both the prosecution and defense to bring this high-profile trial to a conclusion. The outcome will have major implications for Melly’s future, as well as the broader conversations surrounding the legal treatment of high-profile figures in the hip-hop industry.
