There’s been some viral buzz online this week about Fetty Wap supposedly being released from prison, but the rumors couldn’t be farther from the truth. The confusion started circulating after fans caught wind of posts claiming the rapper was out, and it quickly went viral. But Fetty Wap himself, alongside a relative, took to Instagram Live to address the false information and set the record straight.
For the record, Fetty Wap’s release date is still listed on the Bureau of Prisons website as March 13, 2027. The “Trap" rapper has been serving a sentence since pleading guilty to drug charges in 2022. In 2023, he was sentenced to six years in prison for his role in a drug trafficking operation, which he’s currently serving time for.
Fetty Wap’s rap career has faced some ups and downs, but the release confusion has only added to the ongoing challenges the artist has been dealing with. Known for dominating the charts in the mid-2010s with hits like "Trap Queen" and "679," Fetty Wap was once one of the big names in hip-hop. His distinctive sound and catchy hooks made him a household name, but his legal troubles have put a halt to his action in the music game.
Fans were hopeful about the rumors of his release, but Fetty’s official statement clarified that he won’t be home anytime soon.
