Federal Judge Sides With YNW Melly

YNW Melly has been behind bars in Broward County Florida since 2019. For allegedly the murder of his childhood friends Anthony Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr. Prosecutors claim the drive-by cover-up was staged by Melly. He has been kept in complete isolation, with no means of communicating with the outside world, and has repeatedly been denied access to his legal team; which is why Melly is seeking to sue Broward County Sheriff Office. Alleging “egregious violations” of his constitutional rights.

Melly has been in complete isolation for the last three years. Reports have been provided stating the reasoning behind Melly's isolation, unlike any other inmates. Stemming from a 2022 report filed by an inmate against Melly, the inmate claimed that Melly was planning an escape by having one of his attorneys bring in handcuff keys, according to the lawsuit. In response to the complaint, officers searched Melly’s cell, confiscating commissary items and jail-issued clothing. According to the lawsuit.

District Judge Melissa Damian ordered BSO to file a detailed response by Dec. 6 explaining why Melly shouldn’t be immediately released from jail, including “all documents and transcripts necessary for the resolution of this petition.” Such records would likely shed more light on the conditions of Melly’s detention. With BSO ordered to address the unconstitutional conditions., including the constant isolation he suffers and the unlawful interference blocking him access to defense counsel.

YNW Melly and his legal team along with family celebrated his win in court yesterday on Monday (Nov.18). As more details are released information will be available here for you to follow.
