Young Thug was released from Fulton County Detention Center last week after securing a victory in his YSL RICO case, marking the end of two years under stringent probation. One of the conditions of his release is community service, a responsibility the superstar rapper has taken seriously.
Following the release of his new anthem, "First Day Out," and a celebratory session with Atlanta icon T.I., Thug wasted no time in fulfilling his community service obligations. With the help of his high-profile attorney, Brian Steel, the YSL co-founder was invited to speak to law students at Emory University.
While Steel was present in the classroom, Thug joined the session via FaceTime to deliver a powerful message to the next generation of legal professionals. He expressed deep gratitude for their choice to pursue law, emphasizing the critical role they play in shaping the justice system—especially for underserved communities or individuals vulnerable to systemic inequalities.

Young Thug emphasized “You gotta always look at it like they’re there to put us in prison and you guys are here to keep us from prison. Brian Steel is the best person possible.” “He should be a professor. You guys should become lawyers. I think it’s very important to help people out of the situations they’re in the best you can. I mean, what side do you want to be on? You want to put people in prison for mistakes? Because everybody makes mistakes, they’re human.”
