Today, (Monday Oct. 21) the exonerated "Central Park Five" filed a defamation lawsuit against former President Donald Trump. They allege he made "false, misleading, and defamatory" statements about their 1989 case during the ABC News presidential debate on September 10, according to a recent court filing
The Exonerated Central Park 5 noticed the comments former President Trump said about them while responding to Vice President Kamala Harris when she mentioned his full page ad in the New York Times offering a reward for the 1989 murder of a female jogger in New York City.
Back then Trump was so involved from the sidelines he advocated for execution of the Central Park Five.
Donald Trump's comments during the ABC Presidential Debate........... He said, “They bring up things like what she just mentioned from many years ago, when a lot of people, including Mayor Bloomberg, agreed with me on the Central Park Five. They admitted it—they pled guilty. And I said, if they pled guilty, they seriously harmed someone, ultimately leading to a death. If they pled guilty, then they didn't."

The lawsuit calls out Trump's statements as false on multiple fronts. None of the Central Park Five ever pled guilty, none of the assault victims were killed, and the mayor at the time, Ed Koch, did not align with Trump's views presented in the full-page ad.
