Young Dolph's Murder Trial: Justin Johnson Sentenced for Murder

During Memphis rapper Young Dolph's murder trial, Cornelius Smith testified that he and Justin Johnson were involved in a $100,000 hit on Young Dolph. The hit was allegedly order ordered by Anthony Mims, also known as Big Jook, who is the brother of Yo Gotti. Big Jook was second in command at his brother, Yo Gotti's CMG record label.

Young Dolph was killed as he was walking out of Makeda's Cookies. The white Mercedes Benz the shooters sped away in was key in locating the suspects.

Big Jook was fatally shot outside the Perignons Restaurant and Event Center in Memphis on January 13, 2024. Investigators ruled his murder as a targeted situation.

Justin Johnson, charged in the death of Memphis rapper Young Dolph, has been found guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Following the verdict, Judge Jennifer Mitchell of Shelby County Criminal Court promptly sentenced Johnson to life in prison.

Cornelius Smith has been on trial this week enlightening the prosecution on all the details on the beef between the two record labels in Memphis TN.  Smith admitted to shooting Thornton multiple times and said he did not know how many times he shot him.

Young Dolph's partner, Mia Jaye, posted a statement after the verdict. Check out Mia Jay's penned heartfelt message below. Dolph's sister, Carlissa Thornton, read a statement to the media following Justin Johnson's verdict. She thank the D.A.'s office, Memphis Police, and investigators for their work. In closing she asked that the public respect the families privacy.
