Gunna Calls For Young Thug's Freedom

The UMean rapper Gunna dropped his latest project not to long ago in June. He performed hits from his fourth studio album, A Gift & A Curse. Headlining in Brooklyn New York at the Barclays makes Gunna's first performance in two years since accepting a plea deal back in December according to Billboard.

The show included a video interlude in which Gunna grapples with his situation after being indicted. The rapper performed several tracks made in collaboration with Young Thug, who is currently still incarcerated. This includes the tracks “Hot,” “Pushin P” and “Ski,” for which Gunna performed Young Thug’s verse. The words “Free Jeffrey” were projected onto the stage.

Last month, the 30-year-old rapper took to his instagram stories on the Thug’s 32nd birthday. The image shows the Georgia natives sitting side-by-side inside a car laughing.

Their relationship allegedly took a turn when Gunna pleaded out of the YSL Rico. As Young Thug remains behind bars now. On Gunna's new album he assures Young Thug that he didn't rat on him.

Gunna addresses the "snitching" claims on various songs on the new album. On the track, “I Was Just Thinking,” he opens up about crying over Young Thug’s situation and the “lies” people are saying about him.

That’s four walls talkin’ to you, tellin’ you you gone/ Only I done criеd, ’cause this feelin’ for my bro (King Slime)/ And you know my mind, you done watched that n-gga grow/ I know you hear the lies, it’s your lil’ brother, my folk/ Yeah, I had popped out, but don’t let ’em say I told,” he raps on the track.

Gunna, Young Thug and 28 other YSL associates were charged in a 56-count RICO indictment by Fulton County District Attorney's office last May 2022. Gunna pleaded to one racketeering conspiracy charge last December. He received a four-year sentence and was released after entering an Alford plea.

“I have chosen to end my own RICO case with an Alford plea and end my personal ordeal by publicly acknowledging my association with YSL,” Gunna said in a statement, reported Complex.

At this point in the YSL Rico case against Young Thug; trail is hung up at jury selection six months in. The trial has been delayed multiple times do to in courtroom shenanigans, violations by lawyers, potential jurors, and or co-defendants being involved in unrelated cases causing a delay for Young Thug.
