Thousands f fans of Kai Cenat joined him in Union Square for a giveaway. With millions of followers on Twitch, YouTube, and other platforms, it seemed as if all of them showed up after Kai announced that he would be there giving away video game consoles and other devices.
The giveaway quickly turned into a riot. People were jumping on top of cars, throwing things, climbing on top of buses and other disruptive acts. Four people were taken to the hospital, several were injured. The police made 65 arrest along with Kai Cenat being escorted in cuffs with his followers.
Kai Cenat planned the event as a giveback opportunity to his hometown. It was always his dream to give back to his community. Kai expressed his disappointment on Twich while also realizing his influence.
"It has been my dream to want to give back to the community that made me who I am, bro," he said on Twitch. "But after Friday, bro, I’ve come to realize the amount of not only power but influence that I have on people."
Cenat said he had watched videos of people jumping on cars "and I'm asking myself when I'm watching the video, ‘Why? Like, why?’ You feel what I'm saying?"
