1st Time 2 Black Quarterbacks Face Off At Super Bowl

Super Bowl LVII is around the corner. The excitement is up with history is already being made in the beloved sport of football. For the first time there will be two black quarterbacks leading the charge for Super Bowl glory.

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles will face off Sunday, Feb. 13 in Glendale, AZ. Mahomes moving forward by beating the San Francisco 49er's. In the 31-7 win Hurts threw 121 yards, with no interceptions.

Mahomes had bit of a battle playing on a hurt ankle. Against the Bengals 326 yards with a win 23- 30 for Kansas City. There has been other black quarterbacks that have started in the position game day on Super Bowl. In 2020 Mahomes become the 3rd black quarterback to win a Super Bowl ring. The Chiefs went back to the Super Bowl the next year in 2021, losing to Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Many NFL fans look forward to Super Bowl the entire season keeping track of their favorite teams and stats. Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts add a pinch more of excitement with Black Excellence being able to be witnessed in weeks to come.
