Young Thug's RICO Trial Updates

Grammy-rapper Young Thug has been detained in police custody since May of 2022. Arrested at his home in Buckhead, Ga following a raid of the residence. Thug is facing eight felony charges. Authorities arrested Williams with conspiracy to violate Georgia's RICO Act and participating in a criminal street gang. The indictment was 88 pages long; including references to lyrics found in Young Thug's music. The lengthy indictment reached back to 2013 covering a list 181 acts.

Alongside Young Thug, Gunna, Yak Gotti and a slew of other YSL members were facing trial dates as well in connection to RICO charges. Plea deals have been snatched by many of names originally being detained. Gunna and Thug's brother, Quantavious Grier accepted plea deals.

There has been over 600 potential jurors selected. State prosecutors composed a celebrity stacked witness list including industry executives. A few of your favorite rappers like Lil Wayne, YFN Luccie, Birdman and Rich Homie Quan are all list as state witnesses. In a previous article I mentioned YFN Luccie shared through social media that he has no plans on participating in any future court process.

Judge Ural Glanville read off the lyrics to Williams "Slime Sh#t" to jurors. Which is the vary thing the protect black art movement is about. Artist are know banding together to stop the use of lyrics being use against them in criminal cases. Young Thug's attorneys have been tryin to supress rap lyrics from being used.

There has not been a high-profile trial of this magnitude in the Hip-Hop culture in years. The jury selection is scheduled to go on for another week. It has been confirmed the trial will not begin anytime soon and may take most of 2023 for both parties to present their cases.
