President Biden Speaks With Damar Hamlin's Parents

During NFL Monday night football the game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills was stopped. 24-year-old Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest on the field. Hamlin has been in critical condition in the hospital since.

Many people have sent their "get well" wishes to Damar Hamlin and loving words to his parents and family. Including President Biden reached out to Damar's parents offering support from one parent to another.

Once Biden returned to The White House from his Kentucky trip he spoke with Damar Hamlin's parents for a nice amount of time over the phone, he told reporters.

Medical responders performed CPR on the field before he was loaded into the ambulance. It was also reported that Hamlin had to be resuscitated twice as medical staff was providing care. As of today Damar is still unconscious in the hospital.

President Biden also mentioned his concern over the sport of football and the need to acknowledge the dangers if the sport and the need to focus on helmets.

“I think working like hell on the helmets and the concussion protocols, that all makes a lot of sense. But … it is dangerous. We’ve got to just acknowledge it,” he said as reported in The Hill.

The NFL has not said whether the game will be made up at as of yet being it was suspended due to injury.
