Nikolas Cruz was back in court. On Thursday the jury decided reject the death penalty for the Douglas High School shooter. The jury recommended that Nikolas receives a life sentence without parole. The jury took a day to deliberate over sentencing. The courtroom was packed; including parents that were allowed in to hear the jury's decision.
The victim's families have been waiting since 2018 Valentines Day to get some type of closure. The prosecutors were seeking the death penalty, while Cruz's legal team asked for the death penalty.
The sentencing for Nikolas Cruz is scheduled for November 1. The surviving victims of the Parkland High School shooting will be able to have their voices heard during the sentencing hearing.
