Derek Chauvin former Minnesota Police Officer was sentenced to 21 more years in prison for violating George Floyd's civil rights. Chauvin kneeled on Floyd's neck for more than 9 minutes. In May 2020 Floyd died during this fetal arrest. Chauvin was convicted of murder and manslaughter last year. Resulting in him being sentenced to 22 years.
The other three former police officers were also convicted of violating Floyd's civil rights. They are all awaiting sentencing. Chauvin will serve the federal sentence concurrently.
