Applications for unemployment rose in September after Hurricane Ida.

Initial jobless benefit claims rose 20,000 to 332,000 with estimated new claims totaling 318,000.

Last week new jobless claims had tumbled to a low of 312,000 sinking to 28,456 from 100,000 in the previous week.

It’s unclear if any filers will actually get any money, as the States can continue to pay extra benefits using federal stimulus approved by Washington earlier this year.

Hurricane Ida rocked New York & New Jersey.

Central Park in Manhattan recorded 3.1 inches of rain in one hour, and homes were splintered in New Jersey by tornadoes.

Philadelphia was inundated by floodwaters as fuel shortages compound the misery in Louisiana.
