Miami Bracing For A Second Covid Wave

Coronavirus cases are on the rise in the state and South Florida.

“The second wave is inevitable, we need to start it from the lowest place possible,” Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez said. “Hopefully we won’t have to take additional measures.”

Miami-Dade County reported another 581 cases adding to a total number of just over 182,500.

Jackson Health Systems President and CEO Carlos Migoya stressed that hospitals are ready for a surge, and the fight against COVID-19 is far from over.

“We are all prepared for, god forbid, where we hit that surge,” Migoya said. "All our projections are that there will be an increase or an uptick surge over the next 30 days, with peak being in the latter part of November.

Giménez begged the public not to let up.

“We’ve got to keep our masks, we got to keep our distance, we have to keep washing our hands,” Gimenez said.
