The interim principal and assistant principal of Orange Brook Elementary School has been removed from his campus duties following an off-campus arrest in Broward County.
Marc S. Horowitz, 44, remains held without bond at the Broward County Main Jail following an incident over the weekend. According to jail records, Horowitz faces charges of domestic violence battery and robbery by sudden snatching.
Broward County Public Schools officials confirmed that Horowitz has been officially reassigned off-campus away from students. The school district released a statement noting that formal human resources and termination reviews are underway pending the outcome of the law enforcement investigation.
Horowitz, who has been with the district for more than two decades, was previously recognized as a Broward Teacher of the Year finalist in 2021.
Broward Teachers Union President Anna Fusco addressed the arrest, emphasizing the union's commitment to ensuring due process is followed as the legal proceedings unfold.
