A young boy is going viral over his unexpected run-in with Kendrick Lamar in Detroit.
According to WXYZ Detroit, Lamar was running along Detroit's riverfront on Wednesday (June 11), just one day after his concert with SZA at Ford Field, when he was joined by a three-year-old boy named Ryian.
Lanaeziah Brinson, Ryian's mother, said she didn't even realize that her son was interacting with the rap superstar. She got out her phone to record the two joking around and racing, thinking Ryian had just made friends with a kind man.
But just the night before, Kendrick took the stage in front of thousands at Ford Field for his Grand National Tour. Brinson confirmed to a reporter that she had no idea her son was running around with a rapper.
“Me and my friend, we didn’t know it was him. I was so focused on him cause he was running so fast and I'm like, 'be careful, come back!'" Brinson said.
The mom said her three-year-old and Kendrick interacted for over 10 minutes.
“I finally realized it was him when we got in the car and I turned the song on and let him look at the video and he’s like, 'mom, that’s that man!'" Brinson said.
The family said they are now blasting Kendrick's music, running and dancing to it.
“It’s legendary for my baby. I'll be able to save that video and show that to him once he gets older and understand,” Brinson said.
