Lil Wayne is taking Travis Hunter under his wing as the latest signee to his growing sports agency.
According to a report Front Office Sports published on Sunday, December 29, the 21-year-old college football star is signing with Weezy's Young Money APAA Sports. The veteran rapper's sports agency will handle Hunter's on-field representation and playing contracts going forward. Hunter first hinted at his partnership with Weezy when he shouted him out during his speech after he won the Heisman Trophy earlier this month. While he was at the podium, Hunter said his fiancée put him on to Wayne's music and has been listening to him on the filed ever since.
Young Money APAA Sports reportedly beat out other top-notch agencies like WME, CAA, Klutch Sports Group, and Athletes First. The agency will be by Hunter's side as the NFL draft quickly approaches. Despite his newly inked deal, Hunter will reportedly be represented by SMAC Entertainment for his off-field representation. SMAC is the same agency that helped lock in Hunter's NIL deals while he played at Colorado. They also represent represent Colorado coach Deion Sanders and his son Shedeur. As of press time, the agency has not formally commented on their partnership with Hunter.
Since Young Money Sports and APAA Sports merged in 2017, the agency has offered athletes services like contract negotiations, marketing and endorsement opportunities, legal support, career guidance and more. They also represent Hunter's former Jackson State teammate Isaiah Bolden, who's actively playing for the New England Patriots.
