The Martin County Sheriff's Office is investigating after antisemitic materials were found by residents in their driveways and front yards.

"We've seen it in other communities. This is the first time we've seen it in Martin County. I find it personally reprehensible and disturbing."

Sheriff William Snyder says dozens of homeowners in the Port Salerno neighborhood discovered the packets on Monday night.

They're similar to packets found across the state over the past year.

"About 50 bags. Now each one of these bags were Ziplock bags. All of them contained about 20-something pieces of literature. All of it ugly, antisemitic literature."

Snyder work with the state attorney's office to ensure whoever was responsible will be punished through a state law that took effect last year, making it a crime to leave hateful materials on a person's private property.

Prior to that, littering was the only thing they could charge someone with.
