Nine people are dead after an SUV flipped into a canal in Belle Glade.
It happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday night near Hatton Highway and Southwest Connors Highway.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says the vehicle lost control on a curve and slammed into a guardrail before flipping over.
All ten people in the SUV were trapped underwater. Divers found four people dead on the scene and rushed six to a trauma center.
We got the news this morning that five of them had passed away.
The sixth passenger, a 26-year old man, was seriously injured. A deputy was also injured.
A County Fire Rescue spokesman called it "one of the most difficult scenes" he's been on in 20 years.
